Lewes Vox Community Choir

Dear Lewes Vox
After much deliberation and with a heavy heart I have decided to stop teaching Lewes Vox Community Choir.
This September will be 10 years since I opened my first choir and although this is a great achievement I feel like it is also time for me to move on.
As you all know, in recent years my home life and work load has become much busier and I no longer feel that I can bring the dedication to the choir that it deserves. Despite it being only a few hours a week (teaching time), the reality of the work load is much greater and it often eats into 2 or 3 evening a week – and I still feel that I am not doing enough. I would love to be able to ditch my school job and just concentrate on choir but realistically, working for school frees up paid school holidays and offers more stability. A choir venture might be something that I pursue once the children are a little older.
It is only recently that I have managed to come to this conclusion but I sat with it for a week and I think it is the best choice for me and my family at this time. I am so sorry to let you down and to not go out with a huge concert or celebration – I hate goodbyes.
I do not think that this is the end of choral teaching for me but I would like to be able to step back and gather myself. The last 5 years have been a whirlwind and I would like an opportunity to breath a little.
I can imagine that I will be in touch about workshops and maybe shorter 6 week blocks of singing workshops/courses at some point in the future. Please let me know if you would NOT like to be included in this and I will take you off the mailing list.
I feel very emotional writing this email but it also bringing me a feeling of relief. The only other thing that I have stuck at for 10 years in my whole life is my relationship with my husband Tam.
I loved teaching choir but this feels right. I’m sure I’ll be back in a different guise.
